Anyway, peel and stick wallpaper is super easy to use and has a fast learning curve. Wallpaper is often the focal point of a room, so I find it easiest to first pick out a wallpaper and then design the room around it. I did that for Harper’s room and my laundry room and I have another project in mind that I want to do soon!
When you put Peel and Stick wallpaper up for the first time, you may feel it’s impossible. I did. I wanted to give up! It was difficult to get my first piece on straight. To solve that, I used a level to draw a straight line on the right side to help me roll my first piece down vertically straight.
Here are 10 easy steps to install Peel and Stick wallpaper in your home:
- Choose your Peel and Stick wallpaper (here are a few good options!)
- Get an Exacto Knife and Smoothing tool – MUST HAVE!
- Clean the wall you plan to wallpaper (dust free is the way to be!)
- Hold up your wallpaper (backing still on) on the top left of your wall and draw a vertical line on the right side of where your wallpaper width will end (line doesn’t have to go the full wall length, just to get you started rolling straight)
- Peel off about 8 inches of your wallpaper backing
- Starting on the top left of your wall, place the wallpaper with a few inches going over the top of the wall (you will trim later!) and roll it down
- Use the smoothing tool as you roll down TIP – If you get some bubbles, it’s ok to pull the wallpaper up a bit and reposition and keep smoothing
- As you get to the bottom of the wall, use your exacto knife to trim along the baseboard
- For the next strip, line up the pattern and roll and smooth again. Continue as needed across the wall.
- At the end, trim the excess across the top wall with your exacto knife (or you can trim as you go!) TIP – When you get to the far-right wall, feel free to pre-trim it a bit if there’s a wide section to cut off. Just don’t trim too much!
All done!
