Meriah, the Mommy Project Guru.
Hi, I’m Meriah … the Mommy Project Guru. Do you LOVE a good DIY home project! I sure do! I’ve done many home projects over the past ten years and would love to share my projects past, current and future with you. Having learned a few things along the way, I take each lesson into my next project.
With a husband, three kids under five years old and three large dogs, our home is busy … but I always find time for a new home project!
LOVE WHAT YOU DO. DO WHAT YOU LOVE.
So, who is this Mommy Project Guru girl, Meriah?
First, I’m just a girl raised in Montana who migrated to the south. Secondly, I’m self-proclaimed as the Mommy Project Guru, so hopefully you agree as we grow this blog and I showcase more and more work. The title wasn’t chosen flippantly, as I LOVE a good DIY project around the house and I’ve been “perfecting” my techniques over the past ten years!
As a result, I have some amazing tips and tricks to share from projects past, along with a lot of learning to embark on with you on some new, future home project endeavors! I can’t wait to show you some of the projects I’ve worked on over the years and showcase some new things I’m doing.
My projects range from homemade décor items, to refinishing furniture, to inexpensive room makeovers, to kids art projects, and more! Simple, quick and easy DIY things that are fun and make a big impact on your home!
Maybe get a little more personal, Meriah?
Well, I’m married to a wonderful guy named Ben. We had that love at first sight, know he’s the one, quick to marry romance and we still fall more and more in love to this day. Blah, blah …. Ok … I’ll stop. Basically, we met and married in six months and that was NINE years ago. Zero regrets. He is the one God hand-selected for me!
We both work from home, so we spend a LOT of time together. Pretty much 24/7 togetherness. He’s a crucial part to executing many of my home projects. When I say I have an “idea”, he just shakes his head and says he’ll do whatever I need. Gotta love him! He’s my rock and I wouldn’t be doing this without his encouragement and support.
Meet Meriah’s kiddos!
Ben and I have three wonderful children together: Harper (4), Miles (2) and Sawyer (9 months). Kids didn’t come to us as easily as most. After some fertility struggles, we decided to adopt (I was adopted, so it was a simple leap for us). Harper was our stork drop surprise in 2016, while Miles gave us a whole month to prepare for his arrival in mid-2018. In fall of 2019, after our annual family trip to Montana, we found out we were expecting. In May of 2020, our Sawyer was born. Being in the midst of a pandemic was poetic…at least that’s what I tell myself! I love our story and how unique each part is and I love watching my young family grow.
Where does Meriah reside?
We call the greater Atlanta area home, where the weather is fairly nice all year long. We may have super-hot, humid summers … but that’s doable for the milder weather the remainder of the year. Nice weather affords me a lot of project time!
However, I originally hale from a small town in Montana, but left not long after high school. I lived many years in North Carolina, a year-ish in Pennsylvania, and then settled on Georgia (where I met Ben). Ben’s home state is Alaska, but he spent most of his years in Georgia. Who would have thought a girl from Montana and a boy from Alaska would meet in Georgia and create a beautiful life together? God’s plans are always so much greater than our own!

Hello Doggies!
What’s more, you can’t truly get to know me if I don’t also share my doggies. We have two golden retrievers and a golden doodle. Their names are Shadow (9), Sully (4) and Lily (1). I can’t imagine living life without at least one dog around. Dogs really do make life more exciting. These three always try to “help” me with my projects … although they aren’t the best helpers. Maybe I just need to call them “lazy supervisors”?

As I’ve already proclaimed (not yet from the mountain tops!) … I LOVE a good DIY home project. Whether it’s a kid’s art project, refinishing a dilapidated piece of furniture, building something, or making a room in my house function (and look!) better … I want to share the fun I have doing it with you. Home projects are my zen. My passion. My fun. And I’d love to share it with you!
