Dip, Dip, Dip … coming up!
I’m a daddy’s girl. Forever and always. My dad passed away in 2014 from colon cancer, at the young age of 56. A day doesn’t go by that I don’t think of him and wish he was here. He definitely had some delicious recipes he shared with us growing up, which I still make them today for my family. One that is so yummy and super simple is his amazing 3-ingredient shrimp dip. Seriously, three ingredients … plus Triscuits!
We never had a name for it besides Shrimp Dip, but what’s better than a self-describing name? That way you don’t wonder what it is … you already know!
Most critical part to the 3 Ingredient Shrimp Dip!
While the 3 ingredients make the dip, the most critical part of this whole thing is how you EAT the dip. You really can only eat it with genuine, original Triscuits. Sure, you can try other crackers and things … but to really experience the taste of the dip, you need to have Triscuits.
There is also a specific way to hold the triscuit as you slide it onto the plate to scoop up some dip. If you hold it with the ridges horizontally, it may break. You MUST hold it with the ridges vertically, to prevent breakage while scooping up the dip, so you can get that truly perfect bite.
First Ingredient …
I bet you are wondering when I’m going to give you those three magic ingredients, huh? If your stomach isn’t overpowering your mind yet, I’m sure you know one ingredient is shrimp. It’s kind of a given right? The canned tiny shrimp is the selection of choice for this dip.
You open the can, drain out the liquid and it’s ready as one of the three ingredients to this amazing shrimp dip. What is the second ingredient you may ask? Well, what goes well with shrimp?
Second Ingredient …
That’s right … cocktail sauce. No need for zesty cocktail sauce … the traditional is all it takes for heaven to reach your mouth when you make the dip (once you know the third ingredient) and eat it with your Triscuit. Mmmmm. I can just taste it now!
Third Ingredient …
Finally, the third and final ingredient. It’s here. Really. Can you believe it? Any guesses? It’s cream cheese. Yes, what can be more yummy than cream cheese? And add that to shimp and cocktail sauce and you have arrived! Just imagine what will soon be coming to your mouth! Hurry, get out your ingredients and I’ll tell you how to put it together.
Makin’ the amazing 3 ingredient (+ Triscuits) shrimp dip …
Grab a plate. Make sure you have your cream cheese, cocktail sauce and shrimp (drained) all ready to go. Triscuits as well, of course.
Spoon out a good bit of cream cheese and smooth it across the entire plate. Try and make it even and doesn’t have to be too thick. Next, pour out some cocktail sauce on top of the cream cheese. Using your spoon, spread that evenly across the cream cheese.
Now, grab that can of shrimp (you can always use two cans of shrimp if you want!) and spread them out over the cocktail sauce.
Heaven in a bite …
You are now ready. Ready for heaven to reach your mouth. Ready for a little bit country and a lot rock and roll. GRAB YOUR TRISCUIT. Remember, ridges vertical … and scoop up that dip.
Take a bite. Go ahead. Mmmmmm.

Triscuits are my favorite cracker! I eat them almost every day. This looks like a yummy dip!
