Well, Father’s Day is coming up. Dads are an extremely important part to a family. They say a father is a daughter’s first love and a son’s first hero … just thinking about all that entails and the role model a dad should be is intense. For Mother’s Day, I did a printable for the Best Mom (or Grandma) hands down and knew I needed to do the same for Father’s Day! So, I hope enjoy this blog post and your easy & free Father’s Day handprint printable! Show love to the Father, or Grandfather, in your life!
Remembering my dad …
As I mentioned in my Shrimp Dip post, I lost my father in April of 2014 after a battle with colon cancer. He was young … only 56 years. He was an amazing dad and the rock of our family. My mom always battled with her mental health and he took care of her. Since his passing, her life hasn’t been the same … and it breaks my heart. She lives in a state facility, which is basically a prison, with very little hope and interaction … something I definitely want to do my best to help fix. She deserves an amazing life with her children and grandchildren around.
As I think about my father, I remember so many good times. He had a funny way of saying yes. He’d say, “orky-dorky,” and he’d giggle knowing it was a funny dad thing. My dad worked hard and made sure all our needs were met, regardless of how tight things were financially. He treated my mother like a queen and always put her needs first. He loved her so much.
The praying dad …
Even though my sister and I were adopted, you would never know … he treated us special and never any different than our younger brother, who was a biological surprise for our parents. He was the kind of dad that always said yes, never got upset and prayed. Oh boy, he sure prayed. He’d be in the living room on his knees in the middle of the night … or he’d leave early in the morning and pray at the church before work. He knew the power of prayer and never wavered.
My dad was a guy to look up to … and I miss him so much here on earth, but I’m grateful that I will get to see him again one day! Heaven is real and a true relationship with Christ is the key. This world is heading in a direction that no one knows, but I can rely on God regardless of what’s happening. I’m thankful my dad is enjoying his time in heaven and I can’t wait for him to tell me all about it!
Happy Father’s Day dad … I sure miss you!
Props to my amazing husband!
And now to my wonderful husband, Ben! He’s such an amazing father. He’s the type of dad that doesn’t want to miss out on a moment with his kids. He wants to be here for everything and pours so much love into their lives. Being a good example is important for him so they grow knowing how a man should treat a woman.
Ben reminds me so much of my dad! Could be why I chose him as my husband! I am so grateful to Ben for the godly example he is putting forth for his children and I thank him for loving them and putting them first. It’s amazing taking this journey of parenthood with him.
Love you Ben … you are a super, amazing dad and Harper, Miles and Sawyer are blessed to you have you!
The dads in your life …
I know how I feel about my dad and Ben as a dad … and I’m sure you feel the way about the dads in your life. With that in mind, we all could give the gift of an easy and free Father’s Day handprint printable. Cause I’m sure we all feel that the dad or grandfather in our life is the best one, hands down!
I created this Father’s Day handprint printable with various options. One with handprints included and one without handprints. The one without handprints allows you to paint on your kid’s handprints for an extra personal touch!
Sizing perfect for an 8×10 frame
The size is a normal 8.25” x 10.25” and will fit nicely in an 8” x 10” frame. My kids had a blast putting their handprints on! The printable says ‘Best Dad Hands Down’, so when you add in your own handprints make sure to put them facing down on the page.
Paint, paint paint!
For our printable, Harper used pink paint, Miles blue and Sawyer green. It can be a bit challenging doing finger prints on toddlers, but the mess and fun are so darn cute!
To not get too much paint on the hand, grab a paintbrush and brush the paint on the hand. This will ensure not too much paint gets on the hand for when you do the print. Then slowly put the hand, spread out, down on the paper and push all areas down as much as possible. Hold the paper down as the hand is lifted up and then check out the awesome print left behind!
I admit, getting a one-year-old to do a nice handprint was challenging, but even the non-perfect print is perfect in a way. Sawyer even gave us a nice wrinkle to the paper!
Handwrite the from name!
For the heart/love at the end, your kid can handwrite their name or you can assist with that. It does make it even more personable for the Dad in your life!
We did the painted handprint option, but we also tried the ready-handprints. Harper worked hard to type her name and her brother’s names at the bottom. She loved it so much, that’s the one we framed and gave to Ben!
